Clock synchronization

In September, new clock synchronization equipment was installed. Four brokerage firms completed the synchronization with no incidents reported.  In October, the rest of the institutions synchronized their equipment under the new system.

Proposed Technological Upgrade with Telmex

In January, we began the construction and testing of the new network, consisting of:

    • A dorsal network, which is the center point through which all the institutions' remote sites flow.
    • 113 remote nodes or sites.

The Dorsal network is made of up three main sites: Pachuca, Reforma and Santa Fe.  These sites were all in place by March 13, 2007.

Of the 113 remote user notes or sites, 63 were brokerage firms (35 main sites and 28 alternate sites), 35 were S.D. Indeval users (banks) and 9 were vendors.

The main features of the new network are:

The dorsal network, interconnected with the BMV Computer Center, the backup site and building at Paseo de la Reforma, with a connection capacity of 300 MB/s, known as "the network", to which at least 2 remote links per institution will connect, with a capacity of 2 MB/s.  This will give the network seven times more bandwidth capacity, and will increase transmission speed by five times.

One of the main achievements that came out of the signing of the contract with Telmex is that it committed to maintaining a 99.999% availability of the network, which means the maximum monthly tolerance for interruption will be an accumulated 26 seconds.  If the interruption amounts to more than 26 seconds in a given month, Telmex will credit the following contractual penalty toward the monthly invoice:

    Monthly unavailability (sec.)

    Percentage credit

    > 26 – 59 25%
    > 60 - 299 50%
    >299 - 1199 75%
    >1199 (20 minutes) 100%

EAt the remote points, or brokerage firm/bank links, Telmex committed to a 99.95% availability, which means a cumulative maximum monthly tolerance for interruption of 21.6 minutes.  If the accrued time of interruption amounts to more than 21.6 minutes, Telmex will credit the established contractual penalty (see below) toward the monthly invoice:

    Monthly unavailability (sec.)

    Percentage credit

    > 21.6 - 86.4 30%
    > 86.4 - 177.12 50%
    >177.12 - 181.44(3 hours)100%
    100%

Finally, on November 30, the frame relay services were taken off line, which was the last of the old services supplied through the multi-point point network.  This concluded the process of upgrading the network technology, which lasted a year.
